Some instructions on hair weaving
Hair weaving is the process of attaching the normal human hair with additional synthetic or human hair extensions. It is a process through which the hair fibers (synthetic or normal human hair that are available in the market) are attached to the client's scalp hair. The attachment of the client's hair with that of the artificial hair is done through various interweaving techniques.

Hair weaving is a popular hair extension technique which is able to provide a completely different look. It also helps you to try new hairstyles. Two types of hair are generally used in weaving or fusing the artificial hair to your normal hair:
  1. Human hair
  2. Synthetic hair
Human hair is largely obtained from Asia and Europe. When a person cuts off his/her long hair and sells it to the hair manufacturers it is used for weaving. Experts recommend human hair for weaving as it is more long lasting than synthetic hair fibers and more natural looking.

Synthetic hair is made up of different synthetic fibers and comes in single separate strands which helps in quick and effective braiding. It is usually a lot cheaper than human hair.

Human hair vs synthetic hair fiber

Synthetic weaving of hair fiber is less expensive, but it tends to get tangled too easily and uncontrollably frizz out.

Human hair is more versatile and can be colored, relaxed, curled with heating appliances etc. Purchased additional human hair is just like normal human hair and it can be used in all kinds of hair styling. Also, the human hair comes in variety of textures and can closely resemble the innate curly African-American hair texture or the inherent silky texture of very straight Asian hair etc.

Human weaving hair fiber requires the same maintenance with natural hair care products as that of normal hair fiber.

Some common hair weaving techniques
There are many techniques for hair weaving among which two processes are most common. They are:
  • Sewing hair after braiding into small cornrows
  • Using heating appliances to attach additional hair
Steps of sewing hair after braiding into small cornrows

To sew additional hair the market-purchased hair is braided into cornrows. For this process both synthetic and human hair fiber can be used. A small section of hair is taken for making cornrows in order to avoid a fluffy look to the finished scalp hair. The hair is simply braided and sewed beginning from the hairline of the scalp to the nape of the neck. Care is taken so that the hair is sewn securely with the thread, going down each row. It prevents the loosening of hair by the different ways of styling.

Using heating appliance to attach additional hair

While using heating appliance, market purchased human hair fiber is considered. The appliance is heated to the correct temperature and then the purchased human hair is attached to the client's sectioned hair. It is highly recommended while weaving with heating appliance choose a trained and certified stylist as these technique leads to potential hair loss and skin burning.

Other hair weaving techniques
There are many other process of adding hair to the scalp like by the application of glue. But before beginning the gluing process take up a small section of your hair apply glue and observe if it causes any irritation in the skin of the scalp or not. While applying glue it is better to keep a safe distance from the skin of the scalp so as to prevent clogging of the pores.

If the glue is found safe for application, artificial hair is attached with glue to the sectioned hair of human scalp. The process in itself doesn't cause any damage and the extra glue is washed away with appropriate cleansing and conditioning.

But after the gluing process is done, and there is a requirement to remove the additional hair, it is always better to take the help of a professional. As abrupt hair removal may cause major hair damage.

While styling hair through this procedure, keep in mind the instructions of hair weaving and watch carefully if the stylist is following the same.

In addition to the above mentioned hair weaving techniques, many other weaving hair procedures like Cold Fusion Extensions have been introduced recently. These novel hair weaving techniques don't require any heating and so prevent the damaging effect it has on the hair fiber. This may be the future of hair weaving techniques.
